Our first graders have recently started taking AR (accelerated reader) quizzes. A few of them are so excited to take the test....that they sort of skip the reading part. I am so glad they are excited about the points, but it has become a problem.I searched for ideas and heard about someone using fishbowls to show kids their progress/amount of AR points. I'm not sure if we'll use them this year, but I got so excited about making them. SO, here they are.
One of the things I really love about being an aide is having time to whip up tools for the kids. If I think of something while they are working with the teacher, I get to work. And, they have a tool to learn subtraction or letter blends! It's great!
